Dr. Michael Milgraum

Hello, and welcome to my practice. If you are reading this, then you probably have a problem, concern or challenge that is weighing on you. Being in such a situation can be very stressful and can sap you of the energy and focus you need to get to a better place. I am happy to work with you to help you find a way to cope and a way forward.

I am a Licensed Psychologist in Maryland and have been in practice since 2000. Some of the problems that I deal with frequently include emotional disorders, behavioral issues, transitions into adulthood, trauma, grief, couple/family conflict and stress management. My extensive work with children enables me to provide parenting advice and helpful interventions for children with behavioral or emotional problems. In addition to my more than twenty years of experience providing psychotherapy, I have over fifteen years of experience providing evaluations for immigration cases. I have been qualified as an expert in Clinical Psychology in numerous immigration and civil cases.

I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology/Behavioral Medicine from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I am also a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. My legal training and experience has helped me to better understand and manage my forensic (law-related) psychological evaluations.

In providing help and advice for your issue, I draw on my extensive years of training and clinical experience. I have worked in a variety of settings, including a special education school, outpatient assessment and treatment centers, a maximum security state forensic hospital, a domestic violence center, an adolescent residential treatment program and a court-based psychological assessment office.

I am also an author who enjoys writing about the interface between psychology and spirituality, as well as psychological issues in general. I have published articles in a variety of national and regional periodicals. In addition, I published a novel about a psychospiritual journey of healing from trauma (Never Forget My Soul). Look out for my next major publication, a book of essays about spirituality and psychology, called Written Upon Our Souls.

My greatest pride is my four amazing children, three who have crossed over to that exciting land of adulthood. By far, they have been my greatest teachers.
